In a world where marketing gurus are paid millions to try and come up with new iconic products, there's a true, real-world lesson in branding illustrated by Triumph's Speed Triple. Within eight short years, starting with the T509, Triumph has created a cult of sorts around its bug-eyed naked and it seems to be a good seller, at least in Europe. Compared to the 2008 model we last tested ( Rider, December 2008), on Jett Tuning’s Dynojet dyno our 2011 Speed Triple spun up 124.3 horsepower at 9,200 rpm (up from 120.6) and 76.6 lb-ft of all in all these are minor changes to the bike resulting in almost an extra 8HP and 8nm (1nm - newton metre = 0,737 562 149 3 lbft) and a lot smoother bike. No backfiring anymore from the exhausts when closing the throttle. Maybe a different make of slipons will give you that extra 1hp. The Street Triple is a fantastic bike with manageable power, comfortable ergos, and good low end torque with smooth power delivery. I think it would be just fine for a first bike as long as you're not like 5'6" or shorter. Then you put a 15 tooth front sprocket on instead of the 16. It's even more impressive. Hi everyone, my 00 Speed Triple is spluttering and misfiring pretty bad, Every now and again it misfires completely ,I can hear a piisssst sound and sometime this causes it to cut out. Its just not running smooth.
